Terms of Use

Last updated July 2026

BT Social is a community platform for beach tennis players in Australia. These terms keep things fair and safe for everyone.

1. Who can use BT Social

Anyone can browse the platform. To create an account or upload content, register with a valid email. Keep your login details secure and your profile honest.

Age requirement. You must be 13 or older to create your own account. Players under 13 may have an account created and managed for them by a parent, guardian, tournament organiser or club admin. Players aged 13–17 should have their parent or guardian aware that they use BT Social.

2. User-uploaded content

Photos, gear listings, partner requests, social game posts and other content on BT Social are uploaded by users — not by us. We do not pre-screen or moderate content before it appears.

We have no control over what other users upload. If any user-uploaded content affects you or someone you're responsible for (including a minor in your care), please let us know and we will attempt to remove it as soon as practicable — typically within 48 hours, often the same day for urgent or child-safety requests.

When you upload your own content, you confirm you have the right to share it and accept that it will be visible to other users. You keep ownership and can request removal at any time.

3. Tournament photos

Event photos may be taken by organisers or other players and uploaded to the platform. If you appear in a photo and would prefer it removed, contact us and we will take it down. See the Photo Policy for details.

4. What we will not accept

No offensive, harassing or discriminatory content. No fake profiles. No spam. No content belonging to someone else without permission. No content that sexualises or endangers minors — instant takedown and account suspension. We reserve the right to remove content or accounts that break these rules, with or without notice.

5. Junior players and child safety

BT Social welcomes junior beach tennis players, but takes child safety seriously:

  • Parents/guardians may request removal, modification, or deletion of a minor's profile, photos, or any associated data at any time. Email admin@btsocial.com.au — child-safety requests are actioned with same-day priority.
  • Adults must not contact minors privately through the platform (including via the “Send Message” feature) except in the context of legitimate coaching, organising or family relationships.
  • We do not target marketing or promotional content at users known to be minors.
  • If you become aware of any conduct that puts a minor at risk, please contact us immediately and (where appropriate) report to local authorities and the eSafety Commissioner.

See our Privacy Policy for how we handle data for users under 18.

6. Community connections — accommodation, marketplace, social games & messaging

BT Social offers optional features that help players connect with each other — including Find Accommodation, the gear marketplace, social games / pickup, partner matching, and player messaging. These are introduction tools only. By using any of them you acknowledge and agree:

  • We are not a party to your arrangements. Any stay, booking, sale, payment, meeting, game, ride, or other arrangement that results from these features is solely between the users involved. BT Social is not a party to it.
  • We do not vet or monitor. We do not verify, screen, endorse, supervise, or monitor users, listings, accommodation, goods, prices, or anyone's conduct, and we make no representations or warranties about their safety, legality, quality, accuracy, or suitability.
  • You participate at your own risk. You meet, host, stay with, travel with, transact with, and pay other users entirely at your own risk. You are responsible for your own safety and due diligence — meet in safe settings, verify details independently, and never share more personal or financial information than you are comfortable with.
  • We do not handle payments. BT Social does not process, hold, or guarantee any money, deposit, item, or property exchanged between users.
  • No liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, BT Social, its operator, and tournament organisers are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, theft, dispute, cost, or harm of any kind arising from or connected to these features or any interaction, arrangement, or transaction between users.
  • Release & indemnity. You release BT Social from any claim arising out of your use of these features, and you agree to indemnify BT Social against any claim brought by another person arising from your conduct in connection with them.

Nothing in this section limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Tournament registration, entry & participation waiver

This section applies whenever you register for, enter, or take part in a tournament, category or event through BT Social — for yourself or for anyone you register. Please read it carefully; by registering you accept it.

BT Social is the platform, not the organiser. BT Social (operated by Smart Homes Sydney Pty Ltd) provides the technology used to publish events and take registrations, payments, schedules, scores and rankings. Unless an event expressly states that BT Social is the organiser, each tournament is organised, run and controlled by the independent organiser or club listed for that event. That organiser — not BT Social — is responsible for the event, the venue and its condition, supervision and safety, officiating, scheduling, weather and cancellation decisions, player eligibility, prizes, and refunds.

Assumption of risk. You understand that beach tennis and related activities involve inherent and significant risks, including (without limitation) slips, trips and falls; collisions with other players, officials or fixed objects; impact from balls or rackets; sprains, strains, fractures and other musculoskeletal injuries; cuts and abrasions; sun and heat exposure, dehydration and heat illness; sand, water and weather conditions; the acts or omissions of other participants; and, rarely, serious or permanent injury. You voluntarily accept all such risks, whether known or unknown and whether or not caused by negligence, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Fitness & medical. You confirm that you are medically fit to participate, that you have assessed your own health and suitability to play, and that you are not aware of any condition that makes participation unsafe (or, if you are, that you have obtained appropriate medical clearance). You are responsible for your own insurance, equipment, hydration and sun protection, and you will stop and seek help if you feel unwell or unsafe.

Registering others & minors. If you register or pay for another person (including a child in your care), you confirm that you are authorised to do so and to accept these terms on their behalf, and you accept them for that person. For a minor, you confirm that you are their parent or legal guardian or otherwise have authority to enter them.

Payments, refunds & cancellations. Entry fees are set by the organiser. Where you pay online, BT Social (through its payment provider, Stripe) collects the fee on the organiser's behalf and may retain a platform fee. Refunds, transfers, cancellations, postponements and schedule changes are decided by the organiser under the event's own policy — not by BT Social. Do not rely on your entry until your payment shows as confirmed, and always check the event page for the latest details, which may change.

Release & waiver. To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release, and agree not to sue, BT Social, Smart Homes Sydney Pty Ltd, and their directors, officers, employees, contractors and agents (and, to the extent you agree it with them, the event organiser and venue) from and against all liability for any injury, death, illness, loss, damage, cost or expense of any kind arising out of or in any way connected with your registration, entry, travel to or from, presence at, or participation in an event — whether or not caused by negligence — except for any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Indemnity. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BT Social and Smart Homes Sydney Pty Ltd against any claim, loss, damage, cost or expense (including reasonable legal costs) brought by any person and arising from your participation, your conduct, or your breach of these terms.

Name, results & media. You agree that your name, club, category, results, ranking and participation may be published on BT Social and shared with the event organiser. Photographs and video taken at events may include you and may be published on BT Social and used to promote the beach tennis community. If you would prefer a photo of you removed, contact us — see the Photo Policy.

Use & sharing of your information. By registering, you consent to BT Social and the event organiser collecting and using your registration details to administer the event, communicate with you, produce results and rankings, and operate community features. You also consent to BT Social sharing your information with its trusted partners, sponsors and service providers — for example the payment provider, and event, venue or community partners — for the purposes of running events and rankings, delivering benefits, and supporting the beach tennis community. Your contact details (such as email and phone) are not displayed publicly by default. You may ask how your data is used, or request access, correction or deletion, at any time — see our Privacy Policy or email admin@btsocial.com.au.

Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded; where our liability may be limited rather than excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent the law allows. This section is governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.

8. Limitation of liability

BT Social is provided “as is” for the beach tennis community. We do our best to keep the platform running smoothly and content community-friendly, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service or that every user-uploaded piece of content meets these standards at all times. We are not responsible for the actions of other users or for the accuracy of user-uploaded content. To the extent permitted by Australian law, our liability is limited to refunding any direct fees you have paid us (currently: none — the platform is free).

9. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms significantly we will let you know via email or an on-site notice. Continuing to use BT Social after changes means you accept them. Material changes regarding children, privacy, or content rights will be communicated explicitly.
